After the ‘Searching for Player’ dialog appears, I get a ‘Player Search. No presentation devices on the local network responded. The connected Wi-Fi access point in named: yourapssid’ message.

  1. Make sure that the Player application is running on your presentation PC. When Player is running minimized, its icon will appear in the system tray.
  2. Make sure that both your phone and the computer running Player are connected to the same network. To do this, you must establish a wireless connection with your network from the phone. If you do not have a wireless network, you can try the steps that are shown here: 'I don't have a wireless router. Can I still use Scatterslides'.
  3. Make sure your Google Android phone is connected to the desired network. From the main menu select Settings > Wireless Controls > Wi-Fi. From Wi-Fi settings select and connect to the same network the presentation PC is connected to.
  4. Make sure your presentation PC is connected on the same local area network.
  5. Optionally you can verify connectivity by pinging the Google Android phone from your PC. From the main menu on your phone select Settings > Wireless Controls > Wi-Fi Settings. In Wi-Fi networks section click on the network with the connected status. A window with network information will appear. Record the phone IP address. Click on Cancel button. On the presentation PC select Start > Run. Type cmd in the open line and click OK. In the opened command window at the prompt type ping phone IP address. If there is proper connectivity between the phone and the PC, ping statistics with 0 lost packets will be reported.

I receive an error when trying to connect to a remote projector. After clicking on ‘Connect’ from presentation menu the following message appears: ‘Player not connected. The projector was not found at IP address 1.1.1.1 You can search for nearby projectors, or enter a different IP address.’

The phone is trying to connect to Player using IP address stored in your phone and failing. Make sure that the Player application is running on your presentation PC. When Player is running its minimized icon appears in the system tray. Click on ‘Search’ to have the phone search for a Player computer on the network or click on ‘Edit IP Address’ to enter the correct IP address of the Player computer. You can find the Player IP address by right clicking on the  Player icon in the computer system tray and selecting ‘about’. In the ‘About Scattershow Player’ window look for IP address after the line ‘Listening on:’

I am connected to the same network as my computer, and I still can't connect to my server.

There is a possibility that your wireless router is blocking most broadcast traffic on your local network. Scatterslides searches for Player computers by utilizing broadcast messages. You can connect to the desired Player PC by explicitly enter the Player PC IP address in the Scatterslides settings. Start Scatterslides, push on menu and click on settings. Deselect ‘Search for Player’ option. Click on ‘Select a Player’. Click on ‘Player IP’ and enter the Player PC IP address. You can find the Player IP address by right clicking on the  Player icon in the computer system tray and selecting ‘about’. In the ‘About Player’ window look for IP address after the line ‘Listening on:’

If you still cannot connect there may be a firewall issue on the carchR. Try temporarily disabling the firewall to see if the problem is resolved:

    1. Click 'Start', 'Control Panel',  'Windows Firewall' Under the general tab, click 'Off' (note: you can ignore the windows warning dialog since you are only temporarily disabling the firewall).
    2. Try again to connect from your phone. If the connection worked, than the problem is with the firewall.
    3. Re-enable your firewall by clicking 'Start', 'Control Panel', 'Windows Firewall', and in the 'General' tab, click 'on'
    4. Enable exceptions in your firewall to allow Scatterslides – Scattershow Player connection by following these steps:
      1. Click on the control panel, and click on the windows Firewall setting application
      2. Under the 'general' tab, make sure that the option ‘Don't allow exceptions’ is unchecked. You are going to create an exception for Scatterslides connection.
      3. Click on the Exceptions tab.
      4. Checkmark ‘Display a notification when Windows Firewall blocks a program’ at the bottom of the window. Click ok
      5. Start the Scattershow Player application (or exit and restart it if it is already running).
      6. A windows Firewall dialog should pop up indicating that an application wants to listen on a port. Click 'UNBLOCK'
      7. If this doesn't work, you may have to enter the exception in your firewall manually. To do this, make sure to add port as an exception.
